In the morning of March 28, 2025, the Institute of Forensic Medicine (IFM), MOJ for International Exchange and Collaboration was honored to host two public prosecutors from Bamberg, Germany — Mr. Michael Hennemann and Ms. Anne Kristin Berlips — as part of the annual Taiwan-Germany judicial exchange program organized by the Ministry of Justice. Now in its fourth year, this long-standing initiative continues to promote mutual understanding and strengthen cooperation between the two countries. Following the successful inclusion of IFM in last year’s itinerary, this year’s visit further expanded inter-agency engagement and dialogue.

The visit began with opening remarks from IFM’s Director General, Hou, Kuan-Ren, who provided an overview of IFM’s mission and key areas of work, while highlighting the importance of international collaboration in the field of justice. Department directors then delivered presentations outlining the structure, responsibilities, and ongoing initiatives of their respective divisions.

An in-depth Q&A session followed, during which the German prosecutors engaged in lively discussions with their Taiwanese counterparts. Of particular interest were the detailed workflows and procedures related to autopsy practices, prompting comparative exchanges on operational and procedural differences between the two legal systems.

The visit concluded with a guided tour of the Exhibition Hall of Forensic Medicine and laboratories, where the guests were given a closer look at IFM’s technological capabilities and practical applications in forensic science and criminal investigations.

This exchange once again demonstrated IFM’s commitment to fostering international partnerships, advancing knowledge exchange, and supporting sustained cooperation with judicial institutions around the world.
